Dr. Pidluzny and Malone join Board of Regents

Pidluzny.jpgDr. Jonathan Pidluzny and Rachael Malone are new members of the Morehead State University Board of Regents.

Pidluzny, associate professor of government, was elected by the faculty to serve as the 13th faculty regent on the MSU Board.

He received his Ph.D. degree in political science from Boston College in 2012, and B.A. (honors) and M.A. degrees in political science from the University of Alberta. 

Pidluzny joined Morehead State in 2009 as a visiting assistant professor, has taught at the institution in four departments since receiving a tenure-track appointment in 2011, and presently serves as the government program coordinator.

Pidluzny is a graduate of the 2016 President’s Leadership Academy, and has served on numerous university committees, including undergraduate curriculum, research and creative productions, academic standards and appeals, the Honors Program committee, and the Craft Academy steering committee.      

He has held summer fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and the Jack Miller Center.  He has published book chapters and journal articles on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, U.S. counter-terrorism policy, the Arab Spring and Alexis de Tocqueville. Presently, he is working on a book about the democracy deficit in the Middle East.

His term ends in 2020.

Malone.jpgMalone is a senior majoring in neuroscience.

A native of Morehead, she is the daughter of Derek and Valerie Malone. Malone is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority

She has served three years on Student Government Association prior to her current term for president. Malone spent two years on the student life committee and one year as the vice chair of the public relations committee. 

MSU’s SGA president serves a one-year term.

MSU’s 11-member governing board is comprised of eight citizens appointed by the governor and elected representatives of the faculty, staff and students.
