Closing reception for STITCH slated for Aug. 30

Stitch-embed.jpgThe main gallery of Morehead State University's Claypool-Young Art Building will host a closing reception for the exhibition “STITCH: Contemporary Textile Art from Kentucky and Surrounding States,” Wednesday,  Aug. 30, from 5 until 7 p.m.

Nick DeFord, exhibition juror and program director at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, will give a juror’s talk at 6 p.m. in the gallery.  The exhibition features two and three dimensional textile artworks, involving a wide range of media and techniques such as sculpture, quilting, digital imagery, felting, embroidery, tapestry, weaving, painting, and papermaking.  As the exhibition juror, DeFord selected 40 out of a submitted 190 pieces for the exhibition.

The gallery, within Claypool-Young, features contemporary art for the MSU community as well as the University’s service region.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment, and is free and open to the public. Parking is available on Main Street and across campus after 5 p.m.
