Journey of Hope cycling team visits MSU

The 2017 Journey of Hope Trans-America cycling team visited Morehead Tuesday, Aug. 1. The group of cyclists is comprised of college men from across the United States who are members of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

This year’s event featured 30 cyclists and eight crew members.

The Journey of Hope is a program of The Ability Experience, the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity that raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

Now in its 30th year, the Journey of Hope is a summer-long bike ride that begins in Seattle and concludes in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the duration of the ride, team members make stops in various cities to participate in “friendship visits” at numerous schools and assisted living facilities as a means of reaching out to those with disabilities.

The Journey of Hope team, along with members and friends of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity hosted an evening friendship visit with the residents of Morehead’s Horizon Village. The local fraternity chapter works each semester with Horizon Village’s residents to provide programming and entertainment.
