Holiday shows set for Star Theater

SOL-E.jpgMorehead State University’s Star Theater will feature “The Star of Bethlehem,” “Season of Light,” and “Laser Holiday” for the holiday season.

Shows will be Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16. Ticket prices are $4 for adults, $3for students and senior citizens, free for 4-and under.

Show times will be at 6 p.m., Star of Bethlehem and Laser Holiday; and at 8 p.m., Season of Light and Laser Holiday on weekdays. On Saturdays, Star of Bethlehem and Laser Holiday begin at 1 and 3 p.m. while Season of Light and Laser Holiday at 5 and 7 p.m.

“The Star of Bethlehem” is a full dome planetarium show that takes participants back to the little town of Bethlehem where the birth of Jesus was announced to the humble shepherds by “a multitude of the heavenly host” and to the people of Israel by the arrival of the Wise Men. Guided by the light of the “star that they saw in the east” they traveled far from their lands to “come and worship him.” In the endeavor to investigate what this SOB-E.jpg“Star” might have been, we present all the historical and scientific facts we have today in order to unravel this 2.000‐year old enigma in a special audiovisual show that fills the audience with a sense of wonder and an air of innocence. Accompanied by the music of the best known songs of the season the narration guides the audience through various historical and astronomical information along with the various facts concerning our calendar in order to guide viewers in making their own conclusions as to what this the star was all about.

“Season of Light” will help the audience enjoy a lovely display of the holiday season. In this show, the audience will not only learn the scientific reasoning behind why we have the different seasons, but  also will display some of the winter constellations that we can spot. "Season of Light" will provide audiences with a captivating illustration while also exploring some of the possibilities on how the renowned Star of Bethlehem. Noah Adams narrates the show.
For those audiences wanting a different spin on the holiday season, “Laser Holidays” is sure to leave everyone entertained. Filled with vibrant light displays and accompanied by various renowned holiday singles that have been influencing the merry season for years, “Laser Holidays” promises to inspire feelings of joy and cheer, a great way to start the festive season.

Seating is limited to 90 per program and tickets (cash only) for all shows are available at the door. No advance tickets or reservations are available.
