Thanksgiving specials to air on MSPR
Morehead State Public Radio will offer special programs on Thanksgiving.
At 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, MSPR will air "The Thankful Heart." Music and the Spoken Word Thanksgiving Special features “Come, Ye Thankful People Come," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep" from White Christmas and "Hymn of Praise."
“Giving Thanks to Music” will follow at 10 a.m. In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, the WFMT Radio Network invited five distinguished individuals to describe something they all share: the profound value classical music has for them. As these outstanding people reveal their experiences, we take a moment to give thanks for the music that has enriched our lives.
Guests in the 2017 edition of Giving Thanks to Music are: Opera singer and four-time Grammy winner Marilyn Horne, Anchor and Executive Producer of the Peabody Award winning news program Latino USA, Maria Hinojosa, Dancer and choreographer Jessica Lang, Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic Anthony McGill and Avery Fisher Career Grant winning flutist Demarre McGill.
MSPR broadcasts 24 hours a day and serves more than 20 counties in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. WMKY (90.3 FM) serves as the flagship station for the network, and includes a translator in Inez.
Information is available by calling MSPR at 606-783-2001 or visiting its website at wmky.org.
