Howes named assistant vice president for technology
Morehead State University has named Christopher Howes as assistant vice president for information technology and chief information officer.
“I am very pleased to welcome Chris into the role of chief information officer and assistant vice president for technology. His skills, experience and dedication will serve as a solid foundation for him to draw upon in his new position,” said Beth Patrick, chief financial officer and vice president for administration.
He succeeds Stephen D. Richmond, who is retiring after 27 years of service to MSU.
An MSU employee since 2014, Howes previously held the position of executive director of infrastructure services. Prior to his employment at MSU, he worked for the University of Kentucky, Dell, Hewlett Packard and St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
His duties will include providing operational leadership, direction and administration of multiple information technology services departments under the vice president for administration and fiscal services.
Howes is a two-time MSU graduate. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees in computer information systems and is expected to finish his doctoral degree in education technology leadership in 2018. He also was a graduate of the UK Experienced Leader Academy. He holds multiple professional certifications from The Open Group, the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, Cisco Networks, Citrix Systems and Microsoft.
