Quintasonic Brass to visit MSU
The Quintasonic Brass Quintet will perform Friday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. in Duncan Recital Hall.
Quintasonic Brass is a touring brass quintet made up of professional brass players from around the United States. Its mission is promote chamber music for brass instruments through creative programming, recording projects, promoting new works and educational outreach.
Its members include Vince DiMartino (International soloist), Jason Dovel (University of Kentucky), Matthew Haislip (Mississippi State University), Alex Van Duuren (University of Tennessee) and Alex Lapins (University of Tennessee).
While the group was officially formed in the summer of 2016 in Knoxville, Tennessee, members of the group have been performing together for many years in other settings. Dovel, Haislip and Lapins performed together in the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Faculty Brass Quintet multiple summers in Twin Lake, Michigan. Dovel and DiMartino have performed together in many settings for many years and Van Duuren and Lapins are colleagues on the brass faculty of the University of Tennessee.
