SBDC-Embed.pngThe 19th Annual Big Sandy Women’s Business Symposium was held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center in Paintsville, presented by Morehead State University’s East Kentucky Small Business Development Center. This year’s theme was “Making Connections.”

Nearly 100 people attended the event.

“This is a day we celebrate women and their success in the business world,” said Michelle Spriggs, coordinator of the event and SBDC management consultant. “Attendees leave the event motivated and return to their place of business and utilize what they have learned.”

Sessions were offered: “QuickBooks and You” presented by Regina Becknell, project specialist for MACED, and “Finding Balance and Staying Connected on Social Media” presented by Sarah Frank Bowark, with CEDIK. The afternoon keynote speaker was Amelia “Mimi” Brown and entertainment was provided by the Pike Central Jazz Band.

Sponsors for the event were AAA Real Estate, Appalachian Wireless, First Commonwealth Bank, MACED, Mountain Apothecary in Paintsville, Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Pop’s Chevrolet, Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky and Pikeville Walmart. Student sponsor was Community Trust Bank, media sponsor was Q95FM and East Kentucky Business Exchange was the entertainment sponsor.

The event was funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
