Eagle alum establishes MSU scholarship for Pike County LGBT students

Branham-Mug.jpgTwo-time Morehead State University graduate Darren Branham is giving back with one generous gesture.

Branham recently established the Darren Branham Pride Scholarship to support incoming MSU students from his native Pike County who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The scholarship is a one-time award given to students from a Pike County high school, with preference given to Branham’s alma mater - Shelby Valley High School.

“It is important to be proud of both who you are and where you’re from,” Branham said. “With the establishment of the Darren Branham Pride Scholarship, I am happy to be able to help, in some small way, the next generation of brave, diverse, proud Pike Countians achieve their dreams and goals.”

Branham, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), graduated from MSU with both his BBA in 1995 and his MBA in 2000. He was recently promoted to controller of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) U.S. He works with Yum! Brands based in Louisville, Kentucky. Branham is also a founding board member and treasurer of the Louisville Gay Men’s Chorus.
