Appalachian Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair seeking applicants

Craft-fair-400-290.pngMorehead State University’s Kentucky Folk Art Center (KFAC) is once again giving artists, craft specialists and unique vendors the chance to participate in the longest-running craft fair in Kentucky when the Appalachian Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair comes to Morehead from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Laughlin Health Building.

KFAC, in partnership with Downtown Morehead Inc., will be accepting vendor applications for the annual event through Sunday, Sept. 30.

With more than 100 artists and craftspeople from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, the Appalachian Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair offers visitors a wide and varied selection of regional arts and crafts, ranging from an assortment of hand-crafted jewelry, bath and body lotions, signs, and themed decorations and gifts just in time for the holidays.

Tammy Stone, administrative coordinator for KFAC, said this one-day event will give shoppers options they won’t find at your typical department store or even at similar craft fairs.

“It’s a juried event, so that’s what makes it unique,” she said. “You just get some quality, some hand-crafted items versus a product that someone bought and it trying to resell.”

Admission to the fair is $3 per person; children under 12 are admitted free.

The Kentucky Folk Art Center is a cultural, educational and economic development service of Morehead State University. The center is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To receive an application, go to www.kyfolkart.org or Downtown Morehead Inc. For more information about the Kentucky Folk Art Center, call 606-783-2204 or visit www.kyfolkart.org.
