MSU mourns retiree Jeffrey Clarke Marshall
MSU retiree Dr. Jeffrey "J" Clarke Marshall, 63, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 after a battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 14, 1955, to Adam and Joane Marshall in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he retired as the executive director of the Center for Regional Engagement (CRE) in December 2017, where he’d worked since 2008. He had nearly 30 years of experience in higher education, with a focus on servant-leadership, transformative leadership and community engagement.
At the CRE he oversaw the Governor’s Scholar Program at MSU and helped coordinate regional service activities, including disaster relief, MSU volunteer and service-learning opportunities and economic development opportunities.
Marshall is survived by his brothers, Bruce (Denice) Marshall of Lewistown, Montana; David (Suzy) Marshall, of Spokane, Washington. and Craig (Janice) Marshall of Billings, Montana; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church where he served as a warden and oversaw the church facilities.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 145 E. Fifth St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Alban’s Facilities Maintenance Fund.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Great Falls, Montana, where he will be laid to rest.
