Collinsworth earns legal access award

Kelly CollinsworthMSU Legal Studies Associate Professor Kelly Collinsworth has been recognized as the Access to Justice Award recipient by Legal Aid of the Bluegrass. Dr. Collinsworth received the award at a ceremony held on Thursday, Sept. 27, in Ashland.

She began her career as a legal aid attorney and helped found the area's only pro bono divorce clinic. She used it as a training ground for legal studies students and provided numerous other service learning opportunities.

In addition to teaching in Legal Studies and serving as the program’s director, Collinsworth directs MSU’s Education Abroad program. She is also assistant county attorney in Bath County, where she lives with her husband and children.

The Legal Studies Program at Morehead State University is ranked as the twelfth best such program in America by www.thebestschools.org.
