Equestrian Hunt Seat Team takes top honors at competition

Kira-Danzinger.jpgOn Saturday, Feb. 2, the Morehead State University Hunt Seat Team took reserve high point team for the second time this season, and freshman Jordyn Bagnall of Burlington was reserve high point rider after a close tiebreaker.

Bagnall brought home first place in intermediate fences and novice flat. Other winners include:
  • Junior Kira Danziger of Mason, Ohio, with second in novice flat.
  • Senior Lara Schroer of West Chester, Ohio, with second in novice flat and third in novice fences. Hannah.jpg
  • Senior Tori Winn of Finchville with second in open flat.
  • Craft Academy junior Anya Deaton of Alexandria, with third in novice flat.
  • Senior Lexi Nelko of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, with third in novice flat.
  • Freshman Audrey Reed of Florence, with third in walk-trot-canter.
On Sunday, Bagnall and Danziger brought home firsts in novice flat and novice over fences, respectively. Anya Deaton was second in novice fences, Bagnall was third in intermediate fences, and Schroer was third in novice flat.

“I was really proud of the team's performance. It's really hard to do all the work involved with hosting a show at home and still have the concentration and energy to ride well in the show, and everyone on my team put in great rides both days,” said MSU Equestrian Coach Devin Lintzenich. “We also have a hard time as a team because we are a small team, it's harder for us to place well as a team in addition to having individuals succeed, so getting a reserve high point team placing at a home show was extra special.”

Bagnall, junior Hannah Eldridge and Nelko are all qualified to represent Morehead at Regionals on Feb. 23. The Hunt Seat team will show again at Midway on Feb. 16-17 for our last regular season show.
