MSU Concert Choir hosts chili cook-off
The MSU Concert Choir will host its annual fundraising dinner and chili cook-off on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at First Baptist Church on 123 E. Main Street in Morehead.
Crackers, tortilla chips, peanut butter sandwiches, beverages and dessert will be provided with admission to the dinner and there will be a prize for the best chili. Tickets to the dinner are $10 for adults, $8 for students, and free for those 6 years of age and under and participants in the chili cook-off.
A choral showcase will follow at 7:30 p.m. The choral concert is free and open to the public.
Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the costs of the MSU Concert Choir’s recent trip to Spain and supports the group’s continued success.
“Every semester, we do a fundraising dinner and concert to raise money for choir tours,” said Greg Detweiler, professor of music at MSU. “This event helps us recruit regionally and tour internationally.”
If you are interested in competing in the chili cook-off or want to learn how you can get tickets in advance, contact Janessa Broadhurst, MSU Concert Choir president, at 502-500-6442.
