Board of Regents holds quarterly meeting

The Morehead State University Board of Regents held its quarterly meeting today (Thursday, March 28) in the Adron Doran University Center.   

President Jay Morgan and the board recognized Dr. Gina Blunt Gonzalez, professor of kinesiology; Kelsey Ulery, undergraduate student employee in the Office of Alumni Relations and Development; Jacob Miller, graduate fellow and student employee in the Office of Alumni Relations and Development; and Cameron Faudere, student coordinator of educational programming for the Campus Activities Board, for their outstanding leadership, service and dedication to the University. Also recognized were the coaches and players of the Eagle Women’s Basketball team who defeated The Ohio State University Buckeyes in the first round of the 2019 Women’s National Invitational Tournament. 

The board also acknowledged the generosity of Ron and Patty Griffith and Ronald and Diane Cartee and their financial contributions to the ongoing Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign.  

The Board of Regents elected Kathy Walker as chair and Wayne Martin as vice chair. Teresa Lindgren was appointed as treasurer, and Jane Fitzpatrick was appointed secretary on an interim basis. Officers of the board are elected to a one-year term.   

In other business, the board voted to approve faculty phased retirements and sabbatical leaves and personnel policy PAc-27 Tenure and Reappointment Review. The Board of Regents also approved a maximum tuition increase not to exceed 2.5%, below the state threshold of 4%, and froze housing rates and mandatory student fees for the upcoming year. They also ratified the 2020-2026 capital plan and constitutions of the Staff Congress and Student Government Association.   

The next quarterly Board of Regents meeting will be Thursday, June 6.
