KCTM to hold spring finale concert

Morehead State University’s Kentucky Center for Traditional Music (KCTM) will hold its annual Sounds of Our Heritage Season Finale Concert Tuesday, April 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Morehead Conference Center.

All sections of the Traditional Music Ensemble will perform a variety of bluegrass, old time, country, western swing, blues, gospel and ballad singing at the event, and former students will return to perform as well.

Raymond McLain, KCTM director, said the concert will give those in attendance an opportunity to see what KCTM students can do.

“Folks will want to attend because we have some talented and engaged students, and this concert celebrates and showcases their accomplishments,” McLain said, adding the traditional music program consistently produces professional musicians.

“At this point, 100 percent of students who have earned the degree in traditional music found employment in the music business, most on a full-time basis,” he said.

The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
