Partnership helps provide academic travel funding

A partnership between Morehead State University's Student Government Association (SGA) and the Office of Academic Affairs will help provide students with academic travel funding. The Academic Travel Partnership was created by Brandon Bryer, SGA president, and Dr. Bob Albert, interim provost and vice president of academic affairs.

"Academic conferences are a central component to the academic and future successes of MSU students,” said Bryer. “Due to budgetary constraints, travel budgets have been reduced and SGA wants to ensure that a depletion of resources does not impede on the ability of our students to gain valuable academic experiences.”

In alignment with SGA’s 2018-19 Strategic Plan, this financial partnership allocates equal funds to each of MSU’s four colleges. From the total program allotment of $1,000, Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Education, College of Science and Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology are each able to access $250 to aid in academic conferences and endeavors.

Money from the Academic Travel Partnership can be used for hotel costs, registration fees, or any expenses incurred on an academic endeavor.

The application process is currently available. If awarded funds, they must be used by June 30.
