Stand-up comic Ronnie Jordan comes to Button Auditorium this month
As students get closer to wrapping up the 2018-19 academic year at Morehead State University, they will have even more reason to smile and laugh when notable stand-up comedian Ronnie Jordan comes to MSU to perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in Button Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
In addition to opening for comedy superstar and actor Kevin Hart, Jordan recently recorded a stand-up special for Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network and is currently touring the nation’s colleges and universities on his “Kampus Royalty Tour.” The Atlanta-based stand-up comic and writer has also shared the stage with comedians like Dave Chappelle, Tom Green and Bill Bellamy. He has been featured on television showcases like BET’s “Comic View,” “Martin Lawrence Presents the First Amendment Stand-up,” “P. Diddy Presents Bad Boys of Comedy” and FOX’s “LaughsTV.” He is also is a cast member on WeTV’s “Bossip.”
Jane Tenyer is the assistant director for programming and engagement with MSU’s Office of Student Activities. She, along with fellow Campus Activities Board (CAB) members and students Cameron Faudere, CAB educational coordinator, and Hunter Collins, CAB entertainment coordinator, discovered Jordan when they attended the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) conference in Columbus, Ohio.
She said after seeing multiple comedians, speakers and performers over the course of three days, Jordan easily emerged as a favorite she knew would be a hysterical hit with MSU students.
“He had a lot of kind of laidback humor and it’s young and he can relate to students. But really, the thing about him is his humor can relate to anybody,” Tenyer said. “He talks about things that everybody’s been through, but (he’s) really laidback and down-to-earth.”
Seats for Jordan’s performance are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tenyer recommends those who plan to attend arrive at least 30 minutes prior to showtime to secure a seat.
