Appalachian Music Project establishes scholarship at MSU

Morehead State students from Eastern Kentucky with an interest in music have a new scholarship opportunity thanks to the Appalachian Music Project.  

The Appalachian Music Project Scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Andrew “Drew” Douglas Martin. Martin died in 2013 at the age of 41.  Martin’s wife, Adrienne created this scholarship opportunity to honor Drew’s love for music and the Appalachian region.    

The vision behind this scholarship fund is to underscore the cultural value of music and education by encouraging impassioned and hardworking individuals from Eastern Kentucky to follow their dreams despite economic restraints.    

“It’s an honor to be a small part of our scholarship recipients’ contribution to shaping the future of eastern Kentucky through music,” said Adrienne Correll.  

The scholarship is available to all full-time students who attended high schools in these counties: Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Lawrence, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, McCreary, Perry, Pike and Whitley.  Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and must be majoring in a music-related field.  The scholarship is available to both incoming freshmen and returning students and is renewable through a student’s senior year.
