Hruby awarded Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant

Dr. Alison Hruby, associate professor of English at Morehead State University, has been awarded the Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant.   

The $2,000 grant will benefit students at Rowan County Senior High School in Morehead by giving them access to more extensive libraries in their English classrooms.  

“Research has demonstrated that access to substantial classroom libraries significantly improves students’ investment and skill in reading,” Hruby said. “I am excited to work with the English teachers and students at Rowan County Senior High School to choose books from the classroom libraries, especially books that represent diverse authors and experiences.”
