MSU Family Weekend is Sept. 13-15

Morehead State University students and their families will have a chance to celebrate as One Eagle Family while taking part in a wide range of fun activities and events during Family Weekend from Sept. 13-15.  

The annual event is a time for the parents, grandparents, siblings and friends of MSU students to visit campus and experience what life is like on campus. Activities scheduled for Family Weekend include sporting events, educational and entertainment programming, fun group activities and more.   

Events kick off on Friday when families will get a taste of campus life with a Family Dinner at The Rock Dining Commons from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sign up for the Family Association and earn a chance at one of two textbook scholarships to be given away during dinner. The Eagle Soccer team will take on Wright State University at 6 p.m. at Jayne Stadium. The evening’s events will be capped off with a Family Movie Night courtesy of the Residence Halls Association (RHA) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The movie starts at 8 p.m. on the lawn of Andrews Hall. The film is free, snacks are complimentary, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.  

Saturday’s events will begin with the Family Association Brunch from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Ballroom AB in the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC). Before the Eagle Football team faces Kentucky Christian University at 4 p.m., come to the Academic-Athletic Center parking lot for the Eagle Family Picnic and family fun activities beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be free food, activities, a Kid Zone, giveaways and door prizes.   

The Star Theatre will also be opened on Saturday during Family Weekend. Planetarium shows include the family show, “Exploring New Horizons,” at 11 a.m., and the feature show, “From the Earth to the Universe,” at 1 p.m. The laser show, “Laser Country,” begins at 4 p.m.  

Planetarium shows are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and children ages 5 and older, and free for children under 4, MSU students, faculty and staff. The laser show is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and children ages 5 and older, and free for children under 4, MSU students, faculty and staff. 

Throughout the weekend, students and their families will have the chance to explore some of MSU’s premier attractions, including the Recreation and Wellness Center, the Kentucky Folk Art Center and the Golding-Yang Art Gallery. You can also pick up MSU merchandise at the University Store, which will be opened from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
