Career Services holding “Suit Bank Showdown” clothing drive

Morehead State’s Office of Career Services is holding a competition to gather clothing for the Suit Bank, which provides professional attire for students and alumni to wear to job interviews, professional conferences and networking events.

The Suit Bank Showdown is a friendly competition between the offices and departments on campus to determine which entity donates the most items to the Suit Bank, which served more than 300 people last year. Donated items will be assigned a point value, and the office or department with the highest number of points at the end of the competition period will be named the winner. The winning team will receive a traveling trophy.

Items donated to the clothing drive must be clean and in good condition, must be reasonably modern, must be professional business attire and must be adult sizes. Items needed include full suits, slacks, skirts, jackets, ties, belts and shoes. Points awarded for items will be:
  • Full suit (jacket and skirt/pants), 15 points.
  • Skirt or slacks, five points.
  • Business jacket, 10 points.
  • Dress shirt or blouse, two points.
  • Tie, two points.
  • Belt, one point.
  • Shoes, two points per pair.
The contest begins Monday, Nov. 4, and continues through Friday, Dec. 6, at 4:30 p.m. All donations are tax-deductible and may be dropped off at the Career Center in the basement of the Camden-Carroll Library during regular office hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
