Fall Commencement set for Dec. 14

Morehead State University will hold its 2019 Fall Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Academic-Athletic Center. The commencement program will start at 10:30 a.m. 

Sarah Young of Fayetteville, Ohio, will be the student speaker for MSU’s 2019 Fall Commencement ceremony. She is the daughter of Fred “Marty” Young and Joyce Young. She is graduating with two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies with a minor in philosophy.   

For the commencement ceremony, the grand marshal and mace bearer will be Dr. Brian S. Mason, associate dean for the School of Creative Arts. Faculty marshals will be Dr. Julia Ann Hypes, associate professor of sports management, and Dr. Kimberlee Sharp, associate professor of education. 
 
Student marshals will be: 

  • Sarah A. Fink, Graduate Programs.  
  • Elizabeth R. Burke and Cory E. Rawlins, College of Education.  
  • Natalie K. Hampton and Courtney B. Rodman, Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology.  
  • Katie J. Birdwhistell and Courtney R. Whitaker, Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.  
  • Savannah N. Dillon and Isaac T. Vinson, College of Science.  

Janessa J. Broadhurst will sing the national anthem and Jasmine L. Wheeler will lead the alma mater. 
ROTC students will be commissioned as part of the program. Those students are Jake E. Cogan from South Point, Ohio; Marvin R. Morris from Morehead; and Bailey Tutorow from Dry Ridge. 
 
Following the ceremony, the newest alumni will be inducted into the MSU Alumni Association Inc. by Dr. Bob Albert, provost and vice president of academic affairs. 
 
No large bags or backpacks will be permitted in the AAC during the ceremonies and commuter buses will run from the U.S. 60 lot to the AAC. 
 
Family, friends, and supporters unable to attend Morehead State University’s Fall Commencement in person will be able to watch the ceremonies live on their computer or mobile device. 
 
MSU will stream live video from the ceremony. The live video feed will be available approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the ceremonies.
