The 2020 rankings were calculated through a scoring system that factors in student engagement, the potential return on investment and leading third-party evaluation. Of the 172 schools that were analyzed with sociology programs, Morehead State was one of 10 higher education institutions whose program made the list, ranking fourth and noted as having the best concentration options.
“Our graduates have become engaged and productive teachers, counselors and researchers benefitting our region and society at large,” Tallichet said. “While our students’ success will always be a source of profound mutual gratification, our graduate faculty are very pleased to be recognized for such an accolade.”
The Master of Arts in Sociology is an online program that allows for concentration in four areas: general sociology, criminology, chemical dependency and interdisciplinary social sciences. All concentrations require basic courses in theory and research methods and provide students with broad critical and analytical skills that can be applied on the individual, organizational and societal levels. Onlinemasters.com also recognized the program as one of the top 10 online sociology programs in the nation.
