Activities planned for Jan. 20-23 to honor Dr. King

Dr. King illustrationA week of informative and educational activities are planned for Monday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 23, to honor the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.   

A community march will be held Monday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. Participants will meet in the ballroom in the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC). There will also be opportunities for community service for students and community members that day. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the MLK Dream Wall will go on display at ADUC beginning at 10 a.m. The wall will be located near the Campus Activity Board (CAB) office in 217 ADUC and will remain on display through Friday, Jan.24, at 4 p.m.  

On Wednesday, Jan. 22, the film “Selma” will be screened in the ADUC Theater at 4 and 7 p.m.   

On Thursday, Jan. 23, a presentation called “The Art of a Quote” will be held near the second-floor fireplace in ADUC from 3 to 6 p.m.  

“We strive to remind the community of the importance of equity and value of everyone in the community by bringing everyone together to celebrate such a pivotal part of American history,” said Shannon Colvin, associate director of student activities. “The activities will hopefully help everyone realize that we are all working for the betterment of the community and the global community. It is an opportunity to embrace learning about the value of everyone in the community.”
