MSU Military Initiatives to host Black History Month speaker
During Black History Month, Morehead State University’s Office of Military Initiatives will host a guest lecture on leadership with special guest Isaiah Davis from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in Ballrooms A and B of the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC). The event is free and open to the public.
Isaiah J. Davis currently serves as a senior director of distribution operations for Grainger, North America’s leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating product. His current position also includes regional responsibility for distribution centers located in Greenville, South Carolina, and Jacksonville, Florida, that service the Southeast.
Davis joined Grainger in 2014 as the director of distribution operations for the Los Angeles Distribution Center located in Mira Loma, California. He also serves as the president for the company’s African-American Business Resource Group, helping to shape diversity and inclusion strategy within the organization.
Before joining Grainger, Davis held various leadership positions within retail distribution for seven years, working for companies like Target and Toys “R” Us and serving in locations including Dallas, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to those roles, he served as a finance officer in the U.S. Army for four years and served one tour of duty in Iraq.
Isaiah holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
“Isaiah’s versatile leadership experience from the military and multiple companies throughout many regions postures him to give relevant insight to MSU’s students, faculty and the city of Morehead’s community,” said Dr. Silas Session, visiting assistant professor and director of military initiatives at MSU. “His experience from his ongoing tenure as the president of Grainger’s African American business resource group will add more reasons not to miss his presentation.”
