Zoe G. Wells Scholarship Endowment recipient announced

The Morehead State University Foundation has announced this year’s recipient of the Zoe G. Wells Scholarship Endowment, a fund to benefit Morehead State University students. The scholarship recipient is Blake Gamble, a sophomore from Oil Springs, Kentucky.

Gamble is a special education major focused on learning and behavior disorders with a minor in history. He said he plans to return to Johnson County after graduation to teach and coach, with further aspirations to work in education administration.

“I want to personally express my appreciation for the scholarship this generosity provides,” Gamble said. “The Zoe G. Wells Scholarship is helping me reach my goals and I am truly grateful.”

The scholarship was named in honor of Zoe Wells. Wells graduated from Rowan County Senior High School in 2018 and was named Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen during her senior year. Her parents, James and Delrita Wells, greatly valued the educators who guided their daughter through her school years. To honor these educators, the family created a scholarship for students majoring in special education.

During the Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign, the family has grown the Zoe Wells Scholarship to endowment level by contributing $25,000.

Students interested in applying to this scholarship, along with other privately funded scholarships managed by the MSU Foundation, should visit the online scholarship application at https://moreheadstate.awardspring.com
