MSU mourns passing of Jane Ellington

Jane Cook Ellington, a Morehead State alumna and retiree, died Sunday, April 5, at her home in Bath County at the age of 75.  

Ellington was a 1967 graduate of Morehead State University with a degree in Vocational Education-Home Economics. She earned her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Kentucky.  Ellington was an associate professor at Morehead State University for more than twenty years.  

She was the daughter of the late Isaac Errett and Margaret Ellen Collins Cook of Georgetown and is survived by her husband of 50 years, William David Ellington. Other survivors include a son, Derek Thomas (Rebecca) Ellington of Mt. Sterling; three granddaughters, Clara, Laura and Taylor Ellington of Mt. Sterling; and several sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews.  

Ellington was treasurer and an active member of the Bethel First Christian Church; she was a member of the Bethel Homemakers and was actively involved in the Bath County/Owingsville community. She was the women's chair of the Bath County Farm Bureau and a board member of Christian Social Services.  

A private funeral will be held with the Rev. Richard Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Longview Cemetery.   

The family will announce the date for a celebration of life service at a later time.
