Judy Family makes a planned gift commitment to MSU
Wayne (68) and Brenda (68) Judy have been long-time supporters of Morehead State University. Their commitment to student success continues today as the family plans to leave a sizeable planned gift to the University to establish the Judy-Craig Family Endowment, a fund to benefit MSU students.
“We decided long ago that Morehead is a very significant part of who we are,” Wayne said. “I never had anyone in my family go to college before me and Brenda only had one cousin who had gone to college, but he did not complete a degree. So, graduating from Morehead State University is a significant part of us and our family history. We want to ensure we are a part of it for generations to come. Morehead State University will receive a significant part of our estate when we’re not around anymore. We are happy to be able to provide this support beyond our years.”
The Judys are both natives of Gallatin County, Kentucky, and both graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1964. They have been together since they were 16 years old and married after their sophomore year at MSU. Wayne earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Brenda earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education before earning a master’s degree in elementary education from MSU in 1971.
The Judys have been generous supporters of MSU for many years. Since graduating, the couple has made annual gifts to support the greatest needs of the University by directing their support to funds that provide scholarships and more. In 2000, they were instrumental in the establishment of the Allen Lake Professorship in Biology by making a significant gift in honor of Dr. Lake, one of their favorite professors.
With this most recent planned gift, the couple has committed to join the MSU Visionary Society. This giving society recognizes donors who have included MSU in their estate plans. Membership in the Visionary Society does not involve annual dues or obligations at the time of commitment. It simply allows MSU to recognize the generous plans that have been made to support future generations.
The Judy-Craig Family Endowment, created by the couple’s estate gift, will provide scholarships for students from Kentucky who are pursuing a degree in elementary education or physical, biological or environmental sciences.
