MSU hosts ‘Dolores’ screening for Hispanic Heritage Month
As part of Morehead State University’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Eagle Diversity Education Center (EDEC) will be presenting a virtual film screening of “Dolores” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.
“Dolores” tells the story of Dolores Huerta, a lesser known but pivotal political activist in American history who, along with Cesar Chavez, co-founded the first farmworkers union in America.
Dr. Cory Clark, assistant director of EDEC, said he is a fan of films and discussions because it provides a way to learn and process what they have seen with others. He also said at a time when America is seeing a lot of political activism and civil unrest, screening “Dolores” seemed even more appropriate.
“It kind of fits perfectly in a great way to kind of honor her but also educate people about what she’s done,” Clark said.
