Senior art exhibit 'Everything Considered: 2021 MSU Senior Juried Art & Design Exhibition' opens March 31

Morehead State's annual senior art exhibit, "Everything Considered: MSU Senior Juried Art and Design Exhibition," will be on display March 31-April 16 at the Golding-Yang Gallery in Morehead State's Claypool-Young Art Building.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no opening reception for the event, but it will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit will feature the work of 29 senior art and design students who will be graduating in May or December.

For this year's exhibition, jurors will be Adam Yungbluth, MSU visiting assistant professor of art and design, and Melissa Yungbluth, director of the Golding-Yang Gallery and instructor of art and design. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place and best in show. Several honorable mentions will also be awarded.

Melissa Yungbluth will announce the winners Wednesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. via WebEx. She will also provide a walking tour of the exhibit. She said viewing the exhibition will allow people to see emerging artists' work at a pivotal point in their careers.

"It's the culmination of what they've accomplished in their years here at MSU, but it's also the art right before they enter the professional world, or some may go on to graduate school," Yungbluth said. "This is the one time in their careers as artists that this work will be viewed, most likely. They're going to begin changing again after they graduate and move to the next phase in life."
