MSU Military Initiatives awarded Kentucky Veteran Program Trust Fund grant

Morehead State University’s Office of Military Initiatives has been awarded a grant by the Kentucky Veteran Program Trust Fund in the amount of $5,000. These funds will be used to assist enlisted and military-related students with in obtaining textbooks, parking passes and project supplies while providing outreach to veterans’ homes.

“We will develop criteria that prioritizes students that support the Veterans Resource Center, Eagle Vets, Military Initiatives and all associated events,” said Dr. Silas Session, director of military initiatives at MSU.

Session said MSU’s Office of Military Initiatives planned an outreach event for homeless veterans to collect needed items in accordance with guidance from the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA).

“These funds will bolster our support for our veterans in various veterans’ centers in the future,” Session said. “The benefit for the students and veterans receiving the support is obvious, but the opportunity to serve is a great essential benefit to our students for their professional growth.”
