Morehead State University again ranked as one of the best public universities in the South

Morehead State University’s reputation for excellent academic programs and student success has again resulted in a ranking among the top 25 public regional universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report.

Morehead State University continues to rank among the top regional public universities in the South on a consistent basis. Ranked as high as #17 (2020), this marks the sixth consecutive year MSU has been listed as a Top 25 school including #21 this year.

MSU was also recognized for Best Undergraduate Teaching, Best Colleges for Veterans and made the list of Best Value Schools.

“Our consistent rankings demonstrate our faculty and staff’s deep commitment to advancing Morehead State’s standing as a public regional university in the South,” said Dr. Joseph A. (Jay) Morgan, MSU president. “We are pleased that others recognize Morehead State’s academic and experiential quality including our peer institutions. We take pride in keeping this type of quality academic experience affordable for those in our region and beyond.”

The rankings emphasize acceptance rates, graduation rates, admissions selectivity, alumni giving rates, and small class sizes. Class size and personal attention have always been strengths of MSU, with a 15:1 student-faculty ratio that allows for more significant one-on-one time with the University's experienced and dedicated faculty and staff. MSU provides a variety of services and resources to guide and support each student through their college experience.

The rankings include public and private institutions that grant bachelor's and master's degrees in 12 states of the South, including Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Arkansas and Louisiana.

The rankings will appear in the magazine's "Best Colleges 2022" guidebook in early October.
