MSPR Student Awards winners announced
Two student employees at Morehead State Public Radio (MSPR) have earned station awards.
Cassidy L. Stearman from Louisville is the recipient of the 2022 Community Advisory Board (CAB) Student Leadership Award and Rachel B. Turner from Crestwood is the recipient of the 2022 MSPR Outstanding Student Award.
The CAB Student Leadership Award is presented annually to an intern, work-study or volunteer student who worked at MSPR between Jan. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021. Selected by MSPR’s Community Advisory Board, the recipient is chosen based on personal achievements, leadership, volunteerism and campus or community involvement.
The Outstanding Student Award is presented annually to an intern, work-study or volunteer student who worked at MSPR between Jan. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021. Selected by MSPR staff, the recipient is chosen based on leadership, dependability, initiative and personal development while showing quality work and an overall commitment to MSPR.
“I congratulate Cassidy and Rachel on their success and for their dedication to the mission of Morehead State Public Radio,” said Paul Hitchcock, MSPR general manager.
MSPR relies on student work-studies, interns and volunteers performing a variety of important roles at the station including news gathering and reporting, program hosting, engineering and production.
“WMKY offers a variety of hands-on opportunities in a professional and educational environment. We value the hard work by our student staff and their commitment to our listeners,” added Hitchcock.
Serving more than 20 counties throughout eastern Kentucky, including parts of southern Ohio and western West Virginia, Morehead State Public Radio (WMKY) broadcasts from the campus of Morehead State University at 90.3FM and online at www.wmky.org.
