MSU Board meets, approves health insurance for employees with no increase in cost

Three regents were sworn in during the Morehead State Board of Regents meeting held Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC).  

Student Government Association President Chloe Marstiller, Laura Prater Russell and Craig Preece  were administered the oath of office by Circuit Court Judge David Barber. The regents elected Eric Howard as chair, Sanford Holbrook as vice chair, Jane Fitzpatrick as secretary and appointed Mary Fister-Tucker as treasurer.

The Board of Regents recognized MSU General Counsel Jane Fitzpatrick, Assistant Professor of Engineering and Technology Management Dr. Kouroush Jenab and student Zack Holbrook, a biomedical sciences major from Hazard.  

The board heard a report on University Initiatives for 2022-23, including a variety of contracts and reports, revisions to the Police/Emergency Operations manual, a new Student Code of Conduct and tenure proposals. Approved projects include campus maintenance funding for network and Wi-Fi infrastructure replacements, a new roof for Mignon Tower and the replacement of exterior steps on Alumni Tower. The board also heard a presentation on 2023 Employee Health Insurance Plans including no increase in costs for employee premiums for the calendar year 2023.

The board also signed a resolution of appreciation for outgoing Regent Terri Walters. 

The regents will meet Sept. 19-20 for the Council for Postsecondary Education’s Trusteeship Conference and Council Meeting.
