MSU mourns the death of employee Barry Spartman
Barry Walter Spartman, age 49, of Morehead, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, due to complications from pneumonia.
Spartman was a library specialist at Morehead State's Camden-Carroll Library. He began his career at the library as a work-study student at age 18, after graduating from Elkhorn City High School. He is an MSU alumnus.
He was the son of the late Charles Edward Spartman and Maudie Evelyn Adkins Spartman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his husband of 28 years, Larry Aaron Skaggs; two brothers, Craig Spartman and wife Sheila of Mouthcard, Kentucky, and Mitchell Spartman of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Skaggs of Kenova, West Virginia; a special nephew, Josh Spartman and his wife Whitney of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; grandnieces and one grandnephew, as well as other loved ones and dear friends.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, and a memorial service follows at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Katherine Redmond officiating.
