Regents meet and recognize faculty, staff and students

The Morehead State University Board of Regents held its quarterly meeting on Thursday, March 30.

MSU Cheerleaders were recognized at the meeting for winning the national championship title. In January, the squads earned a trifecta of national championships at the Universal Cheerleading Association College Nationals in Orlando, Florida, bringing the team total to 52 all-time UCA titles (and one from NCA) for 53 all-time cheer titles.

The board also recognized Randy Manis, instructor of communication, and Head Cheerleading Coach Mark Coleman, for their contributions to the University, and newly elected Student Government Association officers were introduced.

At the March 30 meeting, MSU's Board of Regents recognized faculty, staff and students.

  4. Newly elected SGA officers were introduced to the board.

Following the recognitions, the board voted to:

  • Approve minutes of the February board meeting, audit committee meeting and executive committee meeting.
  • Ratify personnel actions.
  • Approve tenure with promotion, tenure, and sabbatical leaves for 2023-24.
  • Approve coaches' contracts.
  • Approve University's six-year capital plan.
  • Approve facility name.

The board also voted to:

  • Approve the second quarter financial statements and ratify the amended operating budget.
  • Approve state asset preservation funds for 2023-24.
  • Authorize President Morgan to approve the acceptance of and disposition of property to the City of Morehead.
  • Approve a resolution authorizing the sale of Morehead State University general receipts obligations, 2023 Series A.

Board members heard reports on university advancement and fundraising from Vice President for University Advancement Rick Hesterberg, and an update on optional retirement plans from Vice President for Fiscal Services Mary Fister-Tucker, an update on the University investment policy and the president's report.

The board conducted its annual evaluation of Dr. Morgan and its yearly self-evaluation during the meeting.

The next quarterly board meeting will be held Thursday, June 15.
