MSU alum establishes Daniel L. McGowan Lifetime Learning Scholarship Endowment

Daniel L. McGowan (Class of 2001), senior vice president for PNC Investments, has taken his passion for finance and investments and his love for his alma mater and invested in the future of Morehead State students.

McGowan established the Daniel L. McGowan Lifetime Learning Scholarship Endowment – a fund to provide scholarship support to students studying at the Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology.

"I'm honored to be able to support students in this way - to help other MSU students, who also share my passion for business and finance," McGowan said. "I hope that my contributions inspire future graduates to continue to give back when they're able, as well."

McGowan was interested in finance, particularly investments, at a young age. He purchased his first mutual fund while in middle school. His interest drove him to MSU, where McGowan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. As a senior, he underwent the management training program with Kroger and was installed as an assistant store manager the day after graduation. He used what he learned in the classroom to work his way up the ranks at PNC Investments. McGowan and his wife, Amy, live in Lexington with their two sons, Connor and Avery.

The scholarship is for students pursuing a degree in the school of business administration from Bath, Boyle, Carter, Clark, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Garrard, Jackson, Jessamine, Lewis, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Owsley, Powell, Rockcastle, Rowan, Taylor, or Wolfe counties.
