MSU implements SpectrumU streaming service for campus 

Morehead State University's Office of Information Technology (OIT) will implement SpectrumU as the University's streaming service for faculty, staff and students.  

SpectrumU has 150 channels on the MSU campus network, with over 120 channels off campus (limited to one stream while off the MSU network). This also includes a wide selection of on-demand TV shows, movies, and local channels on-campus from Lexington, Huntington, West Virginia, and Charleston, West Virginia.  

With a single sign-in using their MSU ID, users can create individualized settings, including favorites, watchlists and recordings, and a default "startup" channel when users open the app or website. Users can also resume watching recorded or watched shows or movies on demand.  

"SpectrumU streaming was identified as a needed service here at Morehead State University after our previous streaming provider ended their service on campus abruptly. The new service is a step up from the previous service as now faculty, staff and students can stream while off campus, as well as when they are on campus at MSU," said Jason Crouch, OIT network engineer. "SpectrumU also enables staff and students to watch and record up to 20 hours of Cloud DVR programming on devices such as Roku streaming TVs, Roku devices, Android and Apple Phones.” 

Compatible devices and software for SpectrumU include: 

• All major Android™ smartphones and tablets running Android™ 5 or above.  
• iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS® 11 or above.  
• Kindle Fire Phone and all Kindle Fire models, except for the first-generation model.  
• Mac: Safari 7 or newer, Firefox 45 or newer, and Chrome 43 or newer.  
• PC: Internet Explorer (IE) 11, Chrome 43 or newer, Firefox 45 or newer, or Microsoft Edge 12 or newer.  
• Roku: All second-generation or later video players and TVs.  
• Apple TV: All fourth and fifth-generation devices using OS 12.0 or newer.  
• Please note that not all streaming devices support SpectrumU. Amazon Fire Sticks and Fire TVs, PlayStation, and Xbox are not supported and cannot stream SpectrumU.  

OIT created a knowledge-base article to support users further to assist in setting up devices.
