MSU legal studies student Savannah Jackson awarded Kentucky Paralegal Association scholarship 

Savannah Jackson, a junior in MSU's legal studies program, was awarded the Kentucky Paralegal Association's (KPA) 2022 Annual Scholarship. As a scholarship recipient, Jackson also attended the 2022 KPA Conference.  

Jackson, a native of Morehead, is a double major in legal studies and Spanish with a certificate in intelligence studies. She is highly involved in the community, serving as chief defense counsel to the Student Government Association Court and working part-time at Rowan County Judge-Executive Harry Clark's Office. Her areas of interest include legal research, legal writing, and public administration.  

Jackson participates in MSU's Undergraduate Research Fellowship under Dr. Laken Albrink (Class of 2012), assistant professor of legal studies. She is working on designing a role-playing game (RPG) that teaches the principles of property law in various hypothetical applications.  

"I am incredibly grateful for Professor Laken Albrink's mentorship and the continual support I have received from my instructors at MSU," Jackson said. "I look forward to the networking and professional development opportunity the KPA has given me. This scholarship and association will truly help me continue my education and kickstart my career."  

The legal studies program is ranked the 10th most affordable Legal Studies program in the nation by Great Value Colleges, and one of the few listed that is approved and accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). The ABA only approves programs that meet strict standards for quality and have demonstrated success in producing well-qualified graduates.
