MSU music students win NATS Mid-South Regional competition
Morehead State University music students took top honors at a notable music event held by the National Association of Teachers and Singing (NATS).
In March, voice majors Tess Sergent, a sophomore from Paintsville, and Jocelyn Goldy, a junior from Morehead, won the NATS Mid-South Regional auditions held at Murray State University.
Both voice majors are students of Professor of Music Dr. Roma Prindle. Their wins qualify them to advance to the national level of competition, which takes place this month.
"Tess and Jocelyn both have a natural talent for singing. They have been gifted with beautiful voices. But success requires so much more than that,” Prindle said. “They are winners because they have worked hard to develop their technical and communicative skills. They also have that famous 'fire in the belly' required to succeed."
Morehead State offers undergraduate and graduate programs in music that prepare you for a career in music as an educator, performer or professional. You'll have opportunities to participate in a variety of performances and ensembles, and to engage with the community, state, and region.
