Morehead State welcomes Governor’s Scholar students to campus for 13th year
Morehead State University welcomed 341 students representing 89 Kentucky counties to campus Sunday, June 24, for the Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP).
Established in 1983, the Governor's Scholars Program is a residential summer program for outstanding Kentucky students who have completed their junior year in high school. GSP provides academic and personal growth in a challenging, nontraditional environment that balances a solid liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students who attend GSP must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.
MSU first welcomed GSP in 2006 and this will be the 13th year the University has hosted the program. Centre College and Murray State University are also hosting GSP students this summer.
Numerous activities are planned throughout the students’ five-week stay on campus. GSP will conclude with a closing ceremony on Friday, July 28.
