MSU Board of Regents holds June meeting, approves four-year contract extension for President Jay Morgan

Aioki, Wing, Barker, and Dr. Jay MorganMorehead State University's Board of Regents held its quarterly meeting Thursday, June 15.

The regents recognized faculty and staff:

  • Stephanie Barker, women's head golf coach, NCAA tournament appearance and winning season
  • Mik Aoki, head baseball coach, NCAA tournament appearance and winning season
  • Greg Wing, professor of music, years of service and upcoming retirement

The regents voted to ratify the spring 2023 graduates and personnel actions. They approved the 2023-24 University organizational chart, reviewed policy revisions, approved the promotion of faculty granting of emeritus status, the Founders Award recipient, employment contracts, and endowment investment matching.

In addition, the board approved the investment policy, the 3rd quarter financial statements and amended budget, the 2023-24 operating budget, tuition and fee schedule, and the personnel roster. They also approved the construction and planning for Cooper Hall, the new science and engineering building, and the president's employment contract, including a four-year contract extension.

MSU approved the 2023-24 tuition and fee schedule. Tuition will increase by 2.9%, and the housing rate will be frozen. President Jay Morgan noted, “MSU continues to be one of the most affordable colleges in Kentucky, and we're glad to continue offering affordable opportunities to the students and families of Kentucky and beyond.”

The regents also heard reports on University Dining and First Year Programs, an update on Student Government Association and a report from President Jay Morgan.
