Meet MSU Day comes to Somerset on Sept. 26
Morehead State University's Office of Transition Services will have a Meet MSU Day in Somerset. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Hal Rogers Student Commons Building Community Room on the main campus of Somerset Community College.
Meet MSU Day is for prospective adults, transfer, veteran, and active military students interested in learning more about MSU. University Center of Southern Kentucky at Somerset Community College partnered with MSU for the event.
MSU representatives will be available from various academic departments and admissions. Information about online completer degrees, transfer scholarships, transfer student life, and veteran/military support services will also be available. Student attendees are encouraged to apply for admission free during the event, and no pre-registration is required.
Meet MSU Day will emphasize a seamless transition from Somerset Community College to Morehead State. Students are encouraged to bring unofficial transcripts to be reviewed by advisors.
MSU offers online bachelor's degree "completer" programs designed primarily for graduates of KCTCS (Kentucky Community and Technical College System). These programs allow KCTCS graduates to earn bachelor's degrees while continuing to meet work and family obligations without traveling long distances.
"This event is perfect for students considering transferring to a four-year school after their Somerset Community College graduation," said Jen Timmermann, director of Transition Services. "During this time, they can meet with advisors, learn about financial aid, and get a head start on their application. All information provided will be specific to the needs of transfer, adult, and military-connected students."
