Morehead State hosts Blue and Gold Championship of Marching Bands Sept. 23  

Morehead State University will host its annual Blue and Gold Championship of Bands again on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Jayne Stadium.  

Kentucky high school marching bands will come to MSU to compete in a two-round competition (preliminary round and finals). The first band competing performs at noon in the preliminary round. The finals start at 6 p.m. The MSU Marching Band will perform a special exhibition performance at the end of the evening.  

“This year, 12 bands will travel from across the state to compete in two rounds of competition in MSU’s Jayne Stadium,” said Dr. DuWayne Dale, director of bands and associate professor of music. “The event is the largest annual event hosted by MSU Music.”  

Tickets are available at the gate and are cash only. Adults are $15 for one round or $20 for a combination ticket for both rounds. Children 5-12 are $5 for a single round or $10 for both rounds.
