Morehead State moves forward with new residence hall 

bor-nov.webpThe Morehead State University Board of Regents held a quarterly meeting on Friday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m., in room 329 of the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC).

The board heard a report on a new housing feasibility study and authorized construction and bonding for the project. “Our campus continues to push forward with new facilities and infrastructure,” stated MSU President Dr. Jay Morgan. “This new residence hall will be a welcome addition.”

The board also heard an update on the new science and engineering building, which is scheduled for groundbreaking next summer.

The board acted on several other items, including:  

  • Approval of an updated job description for President Morgan.  
  • Approval of a University endowment match.  
  • Approval of an update to the Staff Congress bylaws.  
  • Approval of changes to University Policy PG-22.  
  • Approval of changes to the University’s Intercollegiate Athletics Committee.  
  • Approval of the University audit report.  
  • Ratification of the 2024-26 biennial budget request.  
  • Approval of a University budget adjustment.  
  • Approval of asset preservation projects.  
  • Approval of the employee compensation plan.  
  • Approval of the track program.  
  • Approval of exception from LEED certification.    

Before the board meeting, the Audit Committee met to approve external and internal audits and recognized Dr. Amy Staton (Class of 2003, 2004, and 2013), associate professor of veterinary technology, for being named director of the veterinary technology program. Staton replaces Professor Emeritus Dr. Philip Prater, who retired earlier this year.  

The board also recognized Joe Stiltner, administrative support supervisor for the MSU Police Department, for his service to the University.  

Zoe Brown, a junior business management major from Cincinnati, was also recognized by the board for her involvement and service to campus. Brown is a resident advisor at Mignon Tower, serves as vice president of the Women’s Virtue student organization, and is actively involved with the Eagle Diversity Education Center, the Black Gospel Ensemble, and other student groups.
