Morehead State voice students win regional competition
Morehead State music students once again earned accolades for their talents.
Voice students of Professor of Music Dr. Roma Prindle excelled at the Mid-South Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition.
Three students progressed to the semi-final round of online competitions, with two winning in their categories. Alura Schaum, a sophomore social studies education major from Cynthiana, Ashley Vela, a first-year music major from Lexington, and Jocelyn Goldy, a senior music education major from Morehead, qualified for the semi-final round of competition. Vela and Goldy placed in the top five singers in their category, qualifying them to compete in the national finals this coming summer at the NATS National Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Erin Grace Rudd, a high school sophomore from Royalton from Prindle’s studio, won in two categories (classical voice and music theater) and qualified for the NATS finals in Knoxville.
“It is so satisfying to work with our voice majors. It takes a lot of hard work and courage to enter the NATS competitions,” Prindle said. “They all are winners in my book.”
