Dr. Robyn Moore receives the South Arts State Fellowship
Associate Professor of Art Dr. Robyn Moore recently received the prestigious and competitive South Arts State Fellowship.
As one of the artists representing Kentucky, she will receive a $5,000 fellowship and exhibit her work with the other state fellows at the Art & Culture Center in Hollywood, Florida. The exhibition featuring the 2024 Southern Prize and State Fellows for Visual Arts will be on display from October 19, 2024, through January 12, 2025, before touring to additional locations across our region.
"When I got the call from South Arts congratulating me on being the Kentucky recipient, I was just speechless and in awe—mainly because I know that Kentucky is filled with extraordinarily talented artists. I felt so honored to have my work selected," Moore said. "I'm used to applying for any and all opportunities that I feel will benefit me or my work —exhibitions, residencies, grants, etc. — but the South Arts award is so significant and such a huge honor that I never expected to be selected."
Based in Atlanta, South Arts is a nonprofit regional arts organization. Its goal is to increase access to arts and culture while supporting artists, organizations, and communities through grants, fellowships, and programs.
Moore said the financial award will help her move forward with some goals for herself and her work sooner. She said that as much as it's an honor to represent MSU and the state of Kentucky, she is proud to have a small part in contributing to the quality of the art and design programs at Morehead State.
"The art and design faculty members at MSU are super talented, award-winning professionals in the contemporary arts," Moore said. "We have faculty in our program who have won national and international awards, fellowships and grants—this is really exceptional for a program of our size."
