Morehead State students win FBLA awards

collegiate FBLA membersThe MSU Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate team won numerous awards at the Kentucky State Leadership Competition held this spring in Georgetown.

MSU had four students who competed in one team event and four individual events. Those students placed in all five events, with three first-place finishes. All four students are now eligible to compete in their events at the national leadership conference set for June in Orlando, Florida.

MSU student award winners are:

  • Brendan Bush, a senior information systems major from Grayson, placed first in the sport management and marketing event and second as a team member in the management case competition.
  • Abbey Cooper (Class of 2024), a senior accounting major from Vanceburg, placed first in the foundations of communication event and third in the foundations of management event.
  • Anna Heineman, a senior health care management major from Ashland, placed second as a team member in the management case competition.
  • John Maxey, a senior marketing major from Hillsboro, placed first in the impromptu speaking presentation and second as a team member in the management case competition.

"I am extremely proud of our FBLA—Collegiate students and have been fortunate to serve as their campus advisor,” said Dr. Sam Stapleton (Class of 2022), MBA program director and instructor of management. This year's student members worked very hard to prepare for the state leadership competition. I believe their commitment is evident in their competition results."
