Morehead State Vet Tech grad recognized for dedication
A veterinary technology student who graduated from Morehead State this month has won an award that will allow her to take her credentialing exam free of charge.
Gabriella Jones (Class of 2024) from Versailles was among 40 national recipients of the Spring 2024 Veterinary Technician National Examination Award from the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). MSU veterinary technology faculty members chose Jones to receive the award, which will cover the cost of her taking the Veterinary Technology National Exam (VTNE) and earning her credentials.
“The MSU Vet Tech students are extremely dedicated to the profession. The VTNE Award allows the faculty to show our appreciation to a student that has proven dedication and work ethic while in the program,” said Dr. Amy Staton (Class of 2003, 2004 and 2013), director of MSU’s veterinary technology program. “This is a great opportunity for us to give back to our students and note that their hard work does not go unnoticed.”
Morehead State’s veterinary technology program is consistently ranked among the best in the nation and number one in Kentucky. Students in the program gain hands-on experience caring for cats, dogs, horses, livestock and other animals. MSU offers both associate and bachelor’s degrees in veterinary technology.
